Appointments & Costs

General Information about Appointments and Costs

Having lived and worked in the US for many years I can offer treatment in English.

I operate by appointment only. Please make an appointment, send me an email with your request or contact me by phone on +49 8041/796 7067.

The answering machine and inbox are checked daily and I will contact you back as soon as possible.

Medical clarification: Most patients who come to my office have already seen one or more doctors/specialists. If your complaints have not yet been medically clarified, I strongly recommend that you do this before starting my treatment.

Fees: My hourly rate (60 minutes) is €100. Private insurances, supplementary health insurance, and alternative practitioner insurances usually cover the costs partially; unfortunately, statutory insurances do not. Please talk with your insurance company in advance whether and to what extent the costs for the treatment will be covered. The responsibility for the invoice lies with the patient regardless of insurance benefits.

Cancellation policy: I operate by appointment only, meaning I schedule appointments solely by arrangement. The agreed time is specifically reserved for you. If you cannot attend your appointment or need to reschedule, please contact me as early as possible so that I have the chance to offer the appointment to someone else. Since appointments generally cannot be rescheduled on short notice, a cancellation fee of 50% of the fee applies for appointments that are not canceled at least 48 hours in advance. For appointments canceled less than 24 hours in advance, on the day of treatment itself, or not canceled at all, I will charge the full amount. Thank you for your understanding!

Clothing: Please come in comfortable clothing.

What to bring: Feel free to bring any medical records you might have. Please bring a large towel with you for the treatment.

The First Appointment

During the first appointment, we will get to know each other and conduct a thorough medical history. After that, I will explain my approach to your individual problems, and we will also begin the treatment right away.

The initial appointment lasts 2 hours. Follow-up appointments are usually shorter, depending on your and my availability and your travel time.

You are welcome to bring your notes or findings, but I am primarily interested in your current physical discomforts and how they feel for you. I will do my best to answer your questions.

At the end of the appointment, we will discuss the next steps, and you will receive exercises and tips for body awareness training for everyday life. Only through collaboration between therapist and patient, as well as the combination of treatment with Pohltherapy and its implementation in daily life, can lasting success be achieved.”

Medical History
In the medical history, I gather detailed information about your background and physical discomforts: How do the physical discomforts feel? Where and when do they occur? At rest or during movement? What functional disorders are present? What improves or worsens the situation? What medications or supplements are you taking? Have you had any surgeries or accidents?…

I am also very interested in your daily life, both professionally and recreationally, as your problems often arise there. The medical history takes time but provides valuable insights into the causes of your physical discomforts and allows you to discuss your situation without time pressure.

Examination and Treatment
During the holistic examination, which involves observation, measurement, and palpation/feeling, I include all relevant muscles for movement and breathing, assess the tone and condition of your connective tissue and fascia, and look for movement restrictions as well as chronic tensions in all areas of the body.

Then, the treatment tailored specifically to you begins with the five methods of Pohltherapy®. The goal is to achieve positive changes as quickly as possible, relieve pain, and improve range of motion and body awareness.

With manual techniques, I loosen your muscles and connective tissue, treat trigger points, and release tense fascia. In body awareness training, we will work together to identify the causes of your problems in everyday life (e.g., prolonged sitting at a computer…) and I will explain strategies and solutions to help you become symptom-free again.”

At the end of the appointment, we will discuss the next steps in your treatment. I will also teach you suitable exercises and provide tips for everyday life to support the treatment. It is important that you perform the exercises regularly and, as discussed in body awareness training, observe yourself for unfavorable habits in daily life to achieve lasting changes.

On our YouTube channel (link), you can find many effective exercises.

After the Treatment
At the end of the treatment, you will likely feel tired. The treatment can be strenuous and often stimulates metabolism. Allow yourself to rest or take a leisurely walk and drink plenty of fluids. Usually, a delayed reaction pain known as “reaction pain” may occur. This manifests as a kind of muscle soreness and/or tenderness in the treated areas. This is normal and will pass on its own. Sometimes bruising may also occur. Please inform me if you are taking blood thinners.

Follow-Up Appointments
Every patient is different and reacts differently to treatment. I adjust the treatment plan based on progress to optimize the treatment. In each follow-up session, I will review the previous treatment success and ask about changes in your physical discomforts as well as your experiences in daily life and with the exercises.

The frequency of further appointments depends on the severity and nature of your problems, as well as our schedules. At first, it may be beneficial to come weekly. Later in the treatment, we can extend the intervals between appointments.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to say how many appointments you will need in general terms; patients respond at different rates, and the extent of problmes varies widely. It is also very important to regularly perform the exercises and implement body awareness training in daily life, which can often save time and appointments.”
